Answer to Question 1

Sleep: Hedgehogs are nocturnal. During the day they sleep under logs, bushes, and wood. Social: They are solitary animals. They are only social with each other when they come together for brief periods to mate. Handling: They are timid animals that do not tolerate loud noises or sudden movements. They curl up into a ball in defense.

Answer to Question 2

Salmonella is a problem with hedgehogs and can be a public health concern, especially with small children. In hedgehogs, it causes watery, green diarrhea, anorexia, and death.
