Answer to Question 1

Stem cells, which arise from fertilization, have all the genetic material needed to develop a complete organism. Because they can develop into any type of cell, these cells are considered totipotent. Scientists envision using stem cells to create new tissue to replace diseased or damaged human tissue. Growing new tissues for specific organs could cure many diseases like Parkinson's, diabetes, and heart disease.
