Answer to Question 1

1 . milling or grinding of the grain into a fine powder or corn meal
2 . liquefying of the corn meal with water and heating
3 . conversion of the starch to glucose using enzymes
4 . fermentation of the glucose by yeast to produce ethyl alcohol
C6H12O6 --- 2 C2H5OH + 2 CO2
5 . separation and concentration of the ethanol from water and other impurities using distillation and other separation technology
