Answer to Question 1

1) Careful maintenance of rare, seldom-seen plant varieties is a hallmark of horticulturists stationed at
botanical gardens. Botanical gardens bring important missions to the larger community through the
maintenance/preservation of collections, learning activities and research.
2) High-profile casino sites are often laden with lush plantings and distinctive seasonal holiday
displays of live plants and related decor. The more alluring the space, the more guests will be attracted
to visit and patronize a casino and its various amenities including hotel, restaurants, spas, salons and
shopping. Interior gardens provide theme and ambiance to the atmosphere thus widening appeal to
varying clientele.
3) In zoos, an important part of keeping animals healthy is to simulate their native habitats. The
provision and maintenance of plant materials that are similar to those found in the geographic locales
of various species needs to be balanced with what will flourish in the artificial habitat.

Answer to Question 2

Care must be taken in the marketing approach for plant provision in museums. The introduction of
moisture and live plant material in the spaces occupied by museum collections is generally avoided
due to potential damage to artworks. Also, curators often keep plants away from art collections due to
the possibility of introducing Dermestids, common name Carpet Beetles. Though indoor plants do not
attract such insects, this may be impossible to convince careful staff members overseeing priceless
collections. It is better to be safe than sorry, keeping beautiful plant displays to the common areas
where people congregate and keeping all stakeholders happy.
