canals filled with water.

The benefits of irrigation include any four of the following: to supplement precipitation, water can be
added when precipitation does not match crop needs; plant nutrients may be applied efficiently in
irrigation water; pesticides can be applied in irrigation water; irrigation water can reduce frost damage;
irrigation equipment can be used to distribute liquid manure; and irrigation may be used to cool crops
on hot days.
