Answer to Question 1

The four purposes of oil are: lubricating the moving parts, cleaning the engine, helping to cool the
interior of the engine, and helping to seal the gap between the rings and cylinder wall.



Answer to Question 2

They are rings made of cast iron and/or steel that are fitted into grooves near the top of the piston.
They create a seal between the piston and the cylinder wall.
