thoroughly; wire brush or sand to remove all dirt or rust from the metal; steam clean or wipe down
with varsol to remove grease; clean the metal with a commercial solvent designed to be a preparatory
solvent; and prime immediately.

A wood primer is a special paint used to seal bare wood. The purpose of primer is to penetrate the
wood as it is applied, sealing any pores and preparing the old wood to receive new paint.
