Answer to Question 1

The glass is classified as No. 10 shade. The welding arc contains light rays that burn, even from a
distance. Any material that blocks the light also stops the damaging rays because the human eye must
not be exposed to direct light from the welding arc.

Answer to Question 2

GMAW is gas metal arc welding. It is a method of welding where wire is fed automatically at a
constant speed as an electrode. It is used in welding exhaust systems, repairing mechanical supports,
installing trailer hitches, truck bumpers, and aluminum castings.
