Answer to Question 1

In America, forestry training is offered at the secondary (high school) level, through agricultural education; at the
postsecondary level, through career-technical schools or community colleges; and, at the university level, in schools
or departments of forestry.

Answer to Question 2

First an undercut (wedge) is cut from the tree trunk on the side in the desired direction of fall. Then a backcut is
made just above the undercut. Wind direction and irregularities in the tree shape can affect the direction of fall
and should be accounted for. In some cases, ropes or cables may be necessary to ensure that the tree falls in the
desired direction.
