Students should expect to find more bacteria on the treated potatoes. Students
should find their expectations to be true



Answer to Question 2

Student answers will vary. People used salt to preserve many dairy products,
especially cheeses. Raw milk had to be used circa the time it was collected.
Buttermilk would remain fresh longer due to lowered pH, which retards bacterial
growth.
