Answer to Question 1

Responses will vary, pros are higher crop yields and diversity with disease and pest
resistance and cons are additional needed studies to confirm the safety of GM
consumption or its possible effects of the ecosystem

Answer to Question 2

Responses will vary, but students should be aware that leaves have different shapes,
such as flat, needlelike, or cylindrical; different arrangements on the stem, such as
alternate, opposite, or whorled; and margins, or edges of the leaves, that help distinguish them.
