What is different about the changes that occur in the nutrient solution to be recycled within a NFT versus an ebb-and-flood system?

Answer to Question 1

In the NFT system the solution passes over the plant roots where it is
radically altered in its nutrient content and pH level. In the ebb-and-flood system
the solution to be recycled does not enter the pot or the root substrate. Therefore, it
is for the most part unaltered except for the loss of some water through
evaporation.
