Answer to Question 1

Check the tips of the petals and young buds carefully for wilting. Check the condition of the stems under the water to make sure they have not started to soften or discolor.

Answer to Question 2

Forcing refers to making a plant bloom before its normal flowering time. To force flowering branches, make sure the flower buds are formed, then cut them from the parent plant and put them in a floral preservative solution out of direct sun until the buds open.
