Answer to Question 1

4

Rationale: Epoetin alfa (Epogen) is generally well tolerated, although hypertension can occur and is the most significant adverse effect. Occasionally, tachycardia may also occur. It may also cause an improved sense of well-being. Depression, bradycardia, and fever are not adverse effects.

Answer to Question 2

2

Rationale: The client should contact the physician if unusual bleeding, bruising, sore throat, mouth sores, abdominal pain, or fever occurs. Antacids containing magnesium and aluminum may decrease the absorption of the medication and should not be taken with the medication. The medication is given in combination with corticosteroids and cyclosporine. CellCept may be administered on an empty stomach. The capsules should not be opened or crushed.
