Answer to Question 1

4. Flat, with legs slightly elevated

Rationale:
A client experiencing shock should lie flat with slightly elevated legs. This allows for the blood pressure to be maintained during this critical time. The Trendelenburg position elevate sthe head of the bed and will not be effective to maintain blood pressure when shock is occurring. It is no longer recommended for the treatment of shock as it causes abdominal organs to press against the diaphragm, which impedes respirations and decreases coronary artery filling. Both the high Fowler's and reverse Trendelenburg positions elevate the head of the bed and will not be effective to maintain blood pressure when shock is occurring.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
