Dietary fiber is the part of food that body enzymes cannot digest and absorb. There are two types of fiber, soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber dissolves in the water contents of the GI tract to form a gel that binds to substances. Insoluble fiber does not dissolve and absorbs in the large intestine, promoting the formation of stool that is eliminated more quickly.
