Refractive errors, the incorrect bending of light rays to focus on the retina, result in changes in visual acuity. When the eyeball is elongated, causing normal near vision but poor distant vision, it is considered myopia. This is corrected by prescription lenses or contact lenses, which bend the light rays correctly on the retina.
