Answer to Question 1

B
A fracture, a break in bone continuity, can result from accidents or bone disease (pathological fracture) and can also damage soft tissue, nerves, and tendons. Treatment for a fracture of the tibia would include a cast applied from the ankle to the knee to prevent rotation.

Answer to Question 2

A
Constipation is the infrequent or difficult passage of hard, dry stools. Chronic constipation causes an enlarged rectum and results in encopresis. Abdominal pain and cramping without distention; palpable, movable fecal mass; a large amount of stool inside the rectum; diarrhea; malaise; anorexia; and headache are common symptoms. Immediate care may include the administering of an enema. Encouraging the child to sit on the toilet for 10 minutes approximately 30 minutes after meals will encourage regular bowel habits.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
