Answer to Question 1

A, B, D, F
Narcolepsy consists of recurrent periods of sleep during the day that cannot be controlled by the person experiencing them. Sleep attacks can occur unpredictably and last varying amounts of time; these attacks are frequently accompanied by sudden loss of muscle control (cataplexy), which can result in falling. People who have narcolepsy frequently get adequate nighttime sleep. A nurse can assist the client who has narcolepsy by suggesting that the client take short daytime naps and avoid activities or substances that cause sleepiness. Stimulant medications may be prescribed.

Answer to Question 2

D
The cardinal vital signs are temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. A sixth vital sign, assessment of pain, is a standard of care in health care settings. Frequently pain and discomfort are the signs that lead a patient to seek health care. Therefore assessing a patient's pain helps a nurse understand the patient's clinical status and progress.
