Answer to Question 1

C

Feedback
A Antibiotics have been shown to promote infection by the highly contagious C. difficile, which has a high mortality rate in older adults.
B Ibuprofen appears to promote C. difficile infection.
C Probiotic acidophilus supplements have been shown to reduce the incidence of diarrhea and reduce the risk of C. difficile infections.
D Iron supplements are not indicated in the treatment of C. difficile infection or diarrhea. Iron supplements can cause discoloration of the stool (black) and lead to constipation.

Answer to Question 2

A
A hypertonic solution has a concentration greater than normal body fluids, so water will shift out of cells because of the osmotic pull of the extra particles. Movement of water into cells occurs when hypotonic fluids are administered. Distribution of fluid between intravascular and interstitial spaces occurs by filtration, the net sum of hydrostatic and osmotic pressures.
