Answer to Question 1

A

Feedback
A Dehydration is common in the older adult because the thirst response is reduced.
B Dehydration results in lower, rather than greater, water intake.
C Vomiting and diarrhea can accompany the onset of acute illness, leaving older adults at risk for further dehydration.
D With a decrease in muscle mass, there is less, rather than more, free water available in the body.

Answer to Question 2

C
The NAP is capable of caring for this patient and is the most cost-effective choice. The cardiac monitor technician's role is to watch the cardiac monitors for patients on the floor. The nurse and the licensed vocational nurse are not the most cost-effective options in this case, even though each could assist with activities of daily living. These nurses would be better used to administer medications, perform assessments, etc.
