If the integrity of the capsule is lost, such as occurs with chewing, the drug could cause a local anesthetic effect and produce choking. Patients should be told to swallow the capsule whole.

ANS: C
Inhaled insulin cannot be prescribed for a patient who smokes. The drug is an inhaled powder.
