Answer to Question 1

ANS: A, B, C, E
Contraindications to the use of ginseng include hypertension, asthma, clotting disorders, and emphysema. While orthopedic disorders and anemia are not necessarily contraindications to the use of ginseng, it is not known that these conditions will be improved through the use of this substance.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
Cross-tolerance describes the state in which developing a tolerance to one drug also increases the tolerance to a related category of drugs. Tolerance to alcohol, a central nervous system (CNS) depressant, results in cross-tolerance to other CNS depressants such as benzodiazepines and bar-biturates.

This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
