The child of a nurse's neighbor sustains a large abrasion of the knee in a bicycle accident. The neighbor says to the nurse, I'm using Mersol on my child's knee to help it heal. Old remedies are usually the best ones. Select the nurse's best response.
 
  1. Mercury-containing products such as thimerosal are not safe for wound care.
  2. It would be more effective to use merbromin on your child's abrasion.
  3. Just put a bandage on the abrasion. It will heal without any other treatments.
  4. Scrub the wound thoroughly with hydrogen peroxide.
