As a result of changes in the gastrointestinal tract of a pregnant woman, a drug absorbed in the GI system will probably need to be adjusted as follows:
 
  1. It needs to be decreased because of changes in absorption.
  2. It needs to be increased because of increased transit.
  3. It needs to be given more often because of increased motility.
  4. No changes are required.

Question 2

Based on physiologic changes in the kidney during pregnancy, which adjustment would the nurse anticipate if a patient who has been taking a drug excreted only by the kidney becomes pregnant?
 
  1. Decreased dosage to protect the fetus
