Answer to Question 1

A
Health problems that can result from untreated hypertension include arteriosclerosis, heart attack, stroke, enlarged heart, kidney damage, and blindness. High blood pressure can affect the ability of the kidneys to remove waste from the blood by hardening, thickening, and narrowing the arte-ries to the kidneys. About 25 of patients who are on kidney dialysis have kidney failure that was caused by hypertension.

Answer to Question 2

B
Agonist drugs excite a receptor to produce their intended responses on a cell or tissue in the same way that a naturally occurring substance does. Antagonist drugs produce their intended responses by binding to and blocking receptors.
