Answer to Question 1

B
To qualify for treatment with GH, children must be 2.25 standard deviations below the mean height for their gender and age, which makes them among the shortest 1.2 of their peers.
The hormone will not make the child grow 6 inches, but only 1 to 3 inches at best.
Therapy typically is provided prior to closure of the epiphyses.
Treatment may be provided for several illnesses, including chronic renal failure and cachexia. However, the child first must meet the age and height requirements. Renal failure does not au-tomatically qualify the child.

Answer to Question 2

700
First, convert pounds to kilograms (44 lb  2.2 lb/1 kg = 20 kg). Then, multiply the patient's weight in kilograms by 35 mg/kg to determine the dose (20 kg  35 mg/kg = 700 mg).
