Answer to Question 1

D
Feedback:
Gastric acid pump or proton pump inhibitors are recommended for the short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, erosive esophagitis, and benign active gastric ulcer; for the long-term treatment of pathologic hypersecretory conditions; as maintenance therapy for healing of erosive esophagitis and ulcers; and in combination with amoxicillin and clarithromycin for the treatment of H. pylori infection. The other options are not antibiotics used to eradicate H. pylori.

Answer to Question 2

B
Feedback:
Dantrolene is the preferred treatment for malignant hyperthermia and should always be readily available whenever anesthetics are used that could trigger the syndrome. Midazolam and thiopental are barbiturates whereas halothane is a volatile gas that can trigger malignant hyperthermia.
