Answer to Question 1

B

Answer to Question 2

C
C. For aquathermia or uncovered heating pad, cover or wrap affected area with bath towel or enclose pad with pillowcase.
A. The nurse can adjust the temperature setting by inserting a plastic key into the control unit. In most health care institutions, the central supply department sets the temperature regulators to the recommended temperature, approximately 40.5 to 43 C (105 to 109.4 F).
B. If distilled water in the unit runs low, the nurse simply adds more distilled water to the reservoir at the top of the control unit.
D. Rubber and plastic conduct heat, so the pad should be encased in a towel or pillowcase to avoid direct exposure to the skin. Never position client so that client is lying directly on pad. This position prevents dissipation of heat and increases risk of burns.
