D. When the family becomes fatigued with care activities, relieve them from their duties so that they can acquire needed rest and support. Refer them to resources for meals and lodging.
A. For clients in terminal stages of illness, support frequent visits with loved ones.
B. Allow young children to visit a dying parent or grandparent if all parties consent. (Some dying clients have strong feelings about possibly traumatizing children during this transition.)
C. Help family members learn to interact with the dying person (e.g., using attentive listening, avoiding false reassurances, conducting conversations about normal family activities or problems).
