Answer to Question 1

D
Do not interrupt a PN infusion. This infusion maintains a continuous supply of nutrients and prevents a hypoglycemic reaction. Fever could be caused by systemic infection. Chest pain could be caused by air embolism. Localized infection can occur at the exit site or tunnel.

Answer to Question 2

B
B. Translation services are preferable to ensure correct translation of medical terminology.
A. Hand gestures are not adequate to communicate issues that will be addressed during admission.
C. Family members may not be adept at translating medical terminology, and client confidentiality may be violated.
D. Simple phrases may not be adequate for everything that will be discussed at the time of admission, and even simple phrases can be misunderstood when there is a language barrier.
