Answer to Question 1

B

Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary. Possible answer: randomization is used in order to minimize the effects of possible confounding factors such as aptitude for reading of the children in the different groups. Randomizing helps to ensure that in each group there is a mixture of reading aptitudes. Differences in reading ability between the three groups at the end of the study can then more readily be attributed to the teaching method.
