Answer to Question 1

ANS: The modern banjo has five single metal strings stretched over a long fretted
fingerboard. The resonator is circular with a parchment-like head stretched over it, rather like
a frame drum.



Answer to Question 2

ANS: Pitch inflections, often microtonal (smaller than a semitone).
