 Calendric rituals, tied to cycles of agriculture, religion, or national celebrations
 Life cycle rituals, marking the significant transitional moments in the life of any individual.

Answer to Question 2

Similarity
 Harp plays a long series of percussive, repeating notes
 Both selections are repetitive

Difference
 Ecuadorian Quichua mother's lament includes a grief-stricken, half-spoken melody performed simultaneously with (not accompanied by) the harpist's vacacin, sung by a solo female voice that is unaccompanied (monophonic texture).
