Room air conditioners are relatively low in cost, easy to install, and can be used in almost any type of structure.

Whole house systems offer higher capacity, higher energy efficiency, filtration, ventilation, and a blower that is strong enough to move air through ductwork, allowing them to be integrated into the heating and cooling system.
