Answer to Question 1

Engineers are only allowed to advertise their services in a non self-laudatory manner such as placing their name, phone number, and a brief statement in the yellow pages of the business section of the phone book or on a web site. The reason they are required to only advertise in this manner is because engineering codes of ethics state that engineers are prohibited from advertising in a self-laudatory manner.

Answer to Question 2

Someone who is working in the engineering profession should blow the whistle when they have exhausted all other possible avenues within a firm for exposing a potentially harmful situation.
