Answer to Question 1

Workers in the basket of an aerial lift should always stand firmly and squarely on the floor of the basket. Climbing or sitting on the walls of the basket is forbidden. Construction companies must ensure that workers adhere strictly to the manufacturer's load and boom specifications. Wheel chocks must be in place when using an aerial lift at an angle (such as on a hill). In addition, brakes must be set. When outriggers are used, they must be positioned on a solid surface or on pads.

Answer to Question 2

Aerial lifts are vehicle-mounted mechanisms used to elevate workers to locations above the ground that would otherwise be inaccessible to them.
