Answer to Question 1

C

Answer to Question 2

According to the flatness problem, it is not reasonable that the density of the universe be so close to the critical density. The inflation model explains this because the sudden massive inflation early in the universe's history forces the universe to have a flat geometry. That implies that the universe's density is exactly equal to the critical density, which implies that the universe must be a combination of mainly dark energy, and some dark matter, since the visible matter is not nearly enough for critical density.
