Answer to Question 1

It is the second largest water user after electric energy generation, at about one
third of the total.

Answer to Question 2

Indeed so. Any facility built would need to assure that no sodium could come into
contact with water. Sodium mixes explosively with water and it is essential that any such
reaction proceed safely..
An amusing website, http://www.allatoms.com/SodiumWaterExpt/NaExp.htm, which is
entitled The Great Sodium Disaster of 1998 states Sodium will react with oxygen in
the atmosphere to make sodium oxide 4Na(s) + O2(g) --> 2Na2O(s). Sodium will also
react with water to make sodium hydroxide base and hydrogen gas Na(s) + H2O(l) -->
NaOH(aq) + H2(g) + heat. The reaction is exothermic enough to cause the flammable
hydrogen gas to ignite explosively with oxygen in the atmosphere to make new water
molecules 2H2(g) + O2(g) --> 2H2O(g). For these reasons, sodium is usually kept under
mineral oil to keep it from reacting with these common substances.

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.
