In this figure, 10 calories of heat are added to each of the two samples of the same gas. Why is T1 greater than T2?
 a. There are fewer atoms or molecules in the smaller object, so each atom (molecule) must move more vigorously for a given amount of heat (energy) transferred to the material.
  b. The thermometer is able to absorb heat from the smaller object more rapidly.
  c. This follows from the ideal gas law.

Question 2

What is the zeroth law of thermodynamics?
 a. Energy is always conserved in thermodynamic processes.
  b. Momentum is always conserved.
  c. The pressure of a fluid decreases as its velocity increases.
  d. If two objects are in thermal equilibrium with a third object, they are in thermal equilibrium with each other.
  e. If a = c and b = c, then a = b.

Nearly all drugs pass into human breast milk. How often a drug is taken influences the amount of drug that will pass into the milk. Medications taken 30 to 60 minutes before breastfeeding are likely to be at peak blood levels when the baby is nursing.

For high blood pressure (hypertension), a new class of drug, called a vasopeptidase blocker (inhibitor), has been developed. It decreases blood pressure by simultaneously dilating the peripheral arteries and increasing the body's loss of salt.
