Why do you have to take separate measurements for the individual currents through resistors in Procedures 5 and 6?

Question 2

You charge a parallel-plate capacitor, remove it from the battery, and prevent the wires connected to the plates from touching each other. When you increase the plate separation, what happens to the value of V?
  1.It increases.
  2.It decreases.
  3.It stays the same.
