In a Compton scattering experiment using x-rays, the wavelength of the x-rays increases by 5.0 as the light is scattered at an angle of 60 with its original direction.
 
  What was the original wavelength of the light before scattering? (melectron = 9.11  10-31 kg, c = 3.00  108 m/s, h = 6.626  10-34 J  s)

The left-hand end of a glass rod is ground to a spherical surface. The glass has index of refraction 1.50.
 
  A small object 4.00 mm tall is placed on the axis of the rod, 37.0 cm to the left of the vertex of the spherical surface. The image is formed in the rod, 50.0 cm to the right of the vertex.
  (a) What is the magnitude of the radius of curvature of the spherical surface at the end of the rod?
  (b) What is the height of the image?
