What are the uses of a cognitive map in conceptualizing a clients situation?
 
  a. It is a standard part of the initial assessment and must be submitted to third party payers if the counselor wants to be reimbursed.
  b. It is speculation about how aspects of the clients life interact and should be kept in private files and never shared with anyone else.
  c. It provides a visual representation of what the counselor knows about the client. The counselor may even share such conceptualizations with clients, on occasion.
  d. There are standardized maps for major disorders such as schizophrenia. They are used to educate clients about their diseases.
  e. A clients map should contain only the presenting problem and the clients feelings about the problem.
