 The placement office of 20 years ago often functioned similarly to an employment agency. Traditional services included:

o posting job opportunities
o scheduling visits from recruiters
o arranging student interviews
o providing a placement file service
 Currently, career planning and placement services often include the following additional services:
o temporary position postings
o full-time vacation jobs
o job search training programs
o resum preparation workshops
o interview practice sessions
o career interest assessment
o career exploration workshops
o individual and group counseling
o follow-up studies of previous graduates
