African Americans

1 . Gay men are negatively perceived and viewed as traitors to African American families; they are viewed as cross-dressers and wanting to be female.
2 . Lesbians are considered as incompatible with role expectations in the black community.
3 . Gay and lesbian communities are isolated and rejected by African American communities.
Hispanic Americans
1 . Latino and Latina communities are described as being excessively homophobic.
2 . Hispanic Americans reactions to sexual minorities can be characterized by their perception of three distinct communities: Latino and Latina community; white heterosexual mainstream community; and gay and lesbian community.
