 Use tests with caution or not at all when the assessment techniques, content and norms are not applicable to a client.
 Read the manual to determine if the client is a member of the normative sample used for reliability and validity.
 Know the relevant background information (such as dominant language, ethnicity, etc.) on each client.
 Know or ask whether different versions of the test is available that better match the client's demographic information and/or needs.
 Read about how translations were completed.
