Answer to Question 1

1 . Counselors are to focus on both career and personal concerns and their interrelationships.
2 . There is to be a balanced approach to identifying individual behavior in that assets and strengths are to be identified, as well as problem identification. How personal concerns can interfere with career choice and development and how positive strengths can be used to diminish them is a most effective approach.
3 . Symptoms of psychological disorders could present barriers to making optimal decisions for both choice and one's career development.
4 . Behavior is the product of multidimensional influences. Counselors are to focus on all barriers that could inhibit or limit one's ability to reach his or her full potential. Feelings of well-being associated with one's assets are an important source of positive reactions used to offset negative barriers.
5 . Career and personal concerns are viewed as a set of needs that is to be identified and addressed in career counseling.

The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
