Is it ever appropriate for alcoholics/addicts to have as a treatment goal to learn to use in a controlled manner
 
  (a) yes, if the client is resistant to abstinence (b) no, controlled use is dangerous and usually leads to significant problems (c) yes, in certain specific situations with certain types of clients (d) no, controlled use is inconsistent with the disease model of addiction
