ANSWER: Answers should discuss the fact that special schools can offer a curriculum more specifically designed for the needs of students with visual impairments that more carefully integrates functional needs (such as orientation and mobility training) with the academic curriculum. Special schools are also able to provide a greater variety of assistive technology options for students to use and explore. Finally, special schools offer community building through a shared experience and social identity.
