Answer to Question 1

Both relate to the flow of matter. A Newtonian fluid has a flow rate that is not affected by shear rate. Examples would be water or sugar syrups. Non-Newtonian fluids have a flow rate that is affected by shear rate. Examples would be chocolate and tomato paste.
